lullaby:

i remember growing up with the French and English versions of “Are You Sleeping” but when i introduced the melody to crw, I remembered the “Where is Thumbkin” version where the fingers greet each other and then run away. crw is definitely enjoying this but someday it would be fun to let her hear original French version of this song.

Frère Jacques / Are You Sleeping

Frère Jacques, Frère Jacques,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
Sonnez les matines, sonnez les matines
Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.

English Version:

Are you sleeping, are you sleeping?
Brother John, Brother John?
Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing
Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.
